America’s Longleaf Celebrates Major Milestones in Longleaf Pine Habitat Restoration with 2024 Accomplishment Report
America’s Longleaf Restoration Initiative is excited to release the 2024 Range-wide Accomplishment Report! With unwavering commitment and collaboration among diverse stakeholders, significant strides have been made in the restoration and management of longleaf pine habitats. This year’s Accomplishment Report highlights over 2.7 million acres of accomplishments across the historic range, showcasing the dedication of partners who have worked tirelessly to enhance biodiversity, promote compatible land use, sustain military readiness, and protect the longleaf pine ecosystem. Over the years, America's Longleaf has collectively advanced restoration efforts across millions of acres, laying the groundwork for a resilient future.
“Over the past decade and a half, longleaf pine forests have delivered lasting benefits to communities across the Southeast, says Jason Dockery, 2024 Longleaf Partnership Chair. “The 2024 Accomplishment Report demonstrates how these forests contribute to clean air and water, wide-ranging recreational opportunities, critical wildlife habitat, and strong economic investments.”
America’s Longleaf is especially proud of two momentous achievements: two million acres of longleaf pine gained through planting and silvicultural practices, and 20 million acres of prescribed fire since 2010!
